Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially designated the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as foreign terrorist and transnational criminal organizations. The announcement, shared publicly through the governor’s office and on social media, states that the classification aims to restrict the organizations’ operations within the state of Texas.
Under the new designation, the groups are prohibited from purchasing land in Texas. Additionally, the ruling gives the Texas Attorney General expanded authority to initiate legal actions intended to limit or halt activities the state deems to fall under the scope of the new classification.
