Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett has dropped out of the campaign to be the top Democrat on a critical committee investigating former President Joe Biden’s alleged mental deterioration.
Crockett, a Democratic firebrand, was vying for the position of next-ranking member (the senior member of the minority party) on the House Oversight Committee.
“It was clear by the numbers that my style of leadership is not exactly what they were looking for, and so I didn’t think that it was fair for me to then push forward and try to rebuke that,” Crockett told reporters.
In an election by a key House Democratic panel on Monday night, Crockett and two others lost to Rep. Robert Garcia, D-Calif.
Crockett admitted to reporters that she came in last of the four, saying, “They were clear that I was the one that made the least sense in their minds.”
