Vice President JD Vance will travel to Los Angeles on Friday amid tensions in the far-left city over the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.
Vance will “tour a multi-agency Federal Joint Operations Center, a Federal Mobile Command Center, meet with leadership and Marines, and deliver brief remarks,” according to a readout of the vice president’s travel plans.
The trip comes after major anti-ICE rallies in Los Angeles, which President Donald Trump responded to with National Guard soldiers and Marines. The riots and turmoil have subsided as the military remains in Los Angeles.
California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom sued the administration to keep control of the California National Guard troops, but a federal appeals court halted his attempts on Thursday, giving Trump a major victory.
Los Angeles has been engulfed in drama since ICE raids began in the city.
The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed on Thursday that the team had denied U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents entry to the grounds of the ballpark.
The Major League Baseball (MLB) organization claimed on X that agents had “requested permission to access the parking lots.”
However, ICE responded to those claims and said, “ICE was never at Dodgers stadium, and thus never tried to gain access.”
ICE also responded to the Dodgers on X, writing, “False. We were never there.”
Early on Thursday, demonstrators spotted law enforcement outside Dodger Stadium, initially mistaking it for ICE. However, in a statement issued following ICE’s rejection, US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated that “CBP vehicles were in the stadium parking lot very briefly,” and that it “had nothing to do with the Dodgers.”
