At his fiancée’s and their friends’ engagement party, an Australian police officer fell and cut his neck. He then died in front of everyone.
Senior Constable Liam Trimmer and his nurse fiancée held a party at their home in Western Australia on Sunday to celebrate their engagement. However, he slipped and fell during the happy event, as reported by 9NEWS.
The 29-year-old man cut his neck in some way and later died from his injuries.
They did everything they could to save him, but it wasn’t meant to be. I know everyone involved is in a lot of pain. The WA Police Commissioner Col. Blanch told the outlet, “I think they just wish they could wake up from this nightmare.”
The tragedy is being looked into by the police.
No name was given for his fiancée.
Trimmer moved to Australia about 10 years ago after being born in the UK. He graduated from the Joondalup Police Academy in 2013, according to 9NEWS.
He moved to Kalgoorlie in 2017, a mining town in the middle of nowhere that is 370 miles east of Perth. There he joined the Gang Crime Squad, the tactical response group, and the local rugby team.
Blanch said, “This amazing officer loved helping people and was a great example of WA policing. It’s such a tragedy.” “A young man with his whole life ahead of him who was very sure of himself and very capable. This is so sad.”
It was “deeply saddened by the passing of a valued member of the blue family,” according to a statement from the WA Police Union. The union also sent its “heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer during this difficult period.”
